This paper defines a mixed-methods, multi-phase, iterative research study built to develop the songs Memory Makers (MMM) Duet System, a novel therapeutic songs technology, enabling non-musicians to try out a personalized repertoire of songs organized as duets. After a pilot period to iteratively examine and refine the MMM Duet program for leisure and therapeutic functions, several sourced elements of data were utilized to analyze five older spousal dyads’ experiences utilizing the system, two partners living with dementia and three who had been not. We assessed perceptions of task difficulty, shared company, and satisfaction along with healing advantages related to improving the spousal relationship and sense of couplehood. Results suggest playing meaningful songs collectively is a pleasurable interactive task that prompts music reminiscence, involves combined company, and aids relationship continuity within a relational, positive way of alzhiemer’s disease attention.
